Never have I felt so unattached from my home culture and exposed to the dangers of the world, while feelings so comfortable in what I was doing and like I’d found where I belonged. My three months working at a centre in Arusha, forced me into situation where I was able to learn and grow. I discovered the inherent kindness of people, the pure joy that only a child can have from their innocence, and the love you feel from your family-away-from-home. But it wasn’t just the kids I was working with who made it such a special experience. The volunteers from Volunteer in Tanzania adopted me into their family and made me feel like one of their own. They have created an incredibly special bond from living together, exploring a new country, and devoting hours upon hours to their service projects. When you return from this trip, I promise you won’t be the same person you were when you left. You will be part of a bigger family with more love than you thought possible, and it’s truly the best experience in the world.
